Spring Awakening: Miracle Mornings, Ostara Activities for Families, and More Buds Arise From Winter’s Slumber

Claudia shares a mixed review of the “Miracle Morning,” expressing its disconnect with her slow morning routine and critique of its approach. She advances her thoughts on living a joyful life in harmony with the Universe. Additionally, she offers ideas for celebrating Ostara as a family and updates on her spiritual and creative awakenings.

miracle mornings review

I returned my previous alarm and invested in a new one. This one wakes you up with light before it wakes you up with sound – and it certainly works. I was up fifteen minutes before my alarm and for the first time in a long time, I was not up with the baby. R slept in this morning until 6h30 which is a huge win. If he can continue that consistently when my husband goes to work, I think mornings will be a lot smoother and more Aligned. While I did get up 15 minutes before my alarm at 5h15, sat up, and read a little, I found my body requesting a bit more sleep and I sunk back into bed until R was ready to rise. Soon, every moment will be 5h as we step into our new routine, so I may as well soak up the last days of sleep.

Of course, I am 70% into The Miracle Morning and it says that what I did was set myself up for failure: first, by falling back asleep when I was already up, second, by failing to get out of bed when I woke up. And that this choice will have a negative impact on my entire being. This book is meant to be motivational but, in essence, it reads as immensely critical. I would have much rather enjoyed a book that eases you into slow mornings rather than tells you, at level 100%, to GET UP AND AT THEM! It doesn’t speak to me as I hoped it would, and comes off as very, very “sales funnel-y” (there are suggestions to go buy more from the author in every single subheading).

In addition, the book is written for people unhappy with their lives: I’m immensely happy with my life. I love my life. I am living a fairytale life, quite honestly. Could I do even better with a few more hours to myself during the day? Yeah, absolutely (which mother wouldn’t?). But does the rest of my life need a lot of changing? No, quite honestly, it’s lovely as it is. I am a big believer in the idea that living a life of joy and a life focused on your betterment and the subsequent betterment of the Collective means the Universe will always provide you exactly what you need at the level you require to maintain that joy and service to others without struggle.

I loved my slow mornings when I was pregnant and when the baby was just a little nugget who stayed sleeping. I loved easing into the day with my spiritual routine of meditation and writing and reading – which is exactly what this book suggests doing (along with other items on the list). But I did it because my soul called me to do it, not because I had a strange author shouting at me, overly excited, about how the best CEOS and most successful celebrities in the world are doing it so I SHOULD TOO! Yikes, sir — relax.

In addition, the author writes that Visualization is a central component to the Miracle Morning and that it should be practiced in order for the day to be effective. Did you know that not everyone can visualize? I can’t. I literally cannot do visualization techniques. I have no ability to form a vision in my head. It’s impossible. And I’m not alone; many people have the same issue. It’s not a matter of a skill being learned, it’s just not possible for some people. When I read a book, I can’t visualize the scene in my head like a movie, but I can still enjoy the book fully and completely. I can’t really explain it, but visualization is just not something I can do or will do.

I did get the book Miracle Mornings for Writers and maybe there will be something in there that settles a little better for my spirit and feels more aligned with me and my needs. I absolutely understand why this book is a hit – he really tries to get you excited with him – and I know, from experience, the benefit of a morning in focused solitude, but he hasn’t executed in a way that speaks to me. That being said, I have made some highlights in this book, including his comments on the tribe you surround yourself with (negative people will make you negative, people who uplift you will encourage you to live a great life, etc.).

I also highlighted some things I disagree with, like his comments saying, “You’re not supposed to “figure out” what your purpose is, you get to make it up, create it, decide what you want it to be.” As a clairaudient medium who has readings focused on unraveling your life purpose and soul path, this is incorrect. We all come to the planet with a specific purpose; the rest – our passions, interests, dreams – are just earthly items that are meant to bring us joy. But we do have one specific purpose, and you do have to figure it out, and you can’t just make it up – it’s an innate soul call.

ostara is blooming on the horizon – ideas to celebrate ostara as a family

With Ostara just germinating around the corner, an Awakened Mama Community Member, Heidi, asked me what kind of activities I would recommend for the equinox. First, most of the Ostara practices were appropriated by Christianity – hence the near perfect alignment between Ostara and Easter. Activities such as decorating eggs are central to Ostara as is the overall theme of renewal and rebirth (tied to the rebirth of Christ after death). If you have a central altar in your home, now is a great time to clean it, dust it, and replace dried or dead items (like dry botanicals or even skulls and bones) with fresh, bright Spring flowers such as tulips and daffodils.

Another common practice during Ostara is to plant seeds but with intention – or affirmations, or even dreams and wishes – and you can even write what you are trying to manifest on a little card that you put alongside your seed. Now is the perfect time to make a ritual of tea drinking, as well, picking fresh herbal ingredients like camomile or lavender or mint, and doing the same: as you prepare it, prepare it with intention and infuse it with gratitude before you drink.

Like Imbolc, blowing a pinch of cinnamon through your doorways also invites abundance into your home. And while hot cross buns have been appropriated by Christianity, they’re an Ostara practice as well – and includes marking your food with the protective intention of a sweet Ostara season. And don’t forget that Spring simmer pots – or essential oil blends – are also a great way to clear the stale winter energy in your home. I found this awesome image for simmer pot ideas:

For kids, a lot of the Easter celebrations can be used under the title of “Ostara” if you are a non-denominational family. In addition, all the above activities can involve your children if you turn it into a “potion making for positivity” experience. The simmer pot, in particular, can become a 5-senses lesson, where you ask, “What does this smell make you think of? How does it make you feel?”

Nature walks are always a beautiful way to Align with the energy of the Spring equinox, and keeping an eye out (with some binoculars!) for animals and birds emerging from their hibernation is an excellent way to help explain the Awakening of Mother Gaia. While you’re on your walk, collect some items along the way and then press them between books to dry or press in clay for a beautiful Ostara stone that you can then place in your garden after it’s dried. On that note, you can also craft garden labels together!

Another activity idea for Ostara for littles is to make stained glass or suncatcher crafts with one another. This can be done with tissue paper, drawing on oven paper with markers, using puffy paint directly on your windows (usually they can be scrapped or pulled right off), or buying a kit.

Of course, don’t underestimate the power in a family clean and sweep of the entire house to make way for the new, renewing energies of Ostara! You can even make a broom together using sticks you find on your walk, and decorate it with dried flowers.

love and recommend all three of these books – worth having in physical format on your shelf

The book, The Wheel of the Year recommends a Spring scavenger hunt on a nature walk! The book The Cottage Fairy Handbook suggests making simple syrups and a flower garland for our home. While the book Slow Seasons suggests infusing all your dishes with the health benefits of fresh garlic, this season.

my own spring awakenings

A lot seems to be arising within me after a quiet winter slumber. Though winter is when I birthed Awakened Little Souls and I am so honoured that this path was gifted to me by Source. But more, more, more spiritual creativity is starting to come up and out of me.

First, I have been pulled back to offer my services through Seeking Celestial Grace (services for everyone outside the scope of mother).

I am frequently watching creative journaling videos on YouTube (like this one, and this one, and this here) which is starting to inspire me to pick it back up again and prioritize it as a piece of my self-care moment – in fact, I was thinking that it would be a meaningful thing to do as I watch television with my husband, rather than scrolling mindlessly – and this is also making me excited about reorganizing all my journaling materials (as I write this, I am literally feeling like a kid on Christmas morning, inside).

I am reading at incredible speeds. I have edited my children’s book manuscript and will let it germinate in the Universe before I make my next move with it, and I am birthing yet another little piece of written work – back to my passion for writing freeform poetry, but this time about motherhood – which I will self publish at some point when it’s ready to be released into the wild. Not to mention, this blog continues to be such an important part of my every day. I love this space. I love it here.

And I’m feeling optimistic about the new routines that will be in place shortly in our household, and that the warmer spring weather will make the transition for me and my little soul much easier.

In addition, something about my podcast seems to be calling me back. Did you know I have/had a podcast? (Well, technically I have two!) It was a fully channeled podcast, including the name and the tagline of, “celestial channeled wisdom to activate a transformative earthly experience.” Even the description was gifted to me from Source: “Where insight from Spirit unites with earthbound souls in a transformative clairvoyant unison. Where Gaian wisdom melds with Christ Consciousness and channeled messages are distributed to the Collective.” I shared free wisdom for the Collective, had spirit babies come forward, and transcribed lightcode messages. Maybe it will shift and meld into something around sacred motherhood guidance, slow living, and – since it is such a focus for myself and my growth lately – reconnecting with Mother Nature/Gaia (since it is also the channeled focus mentioned for the podcast). Something is there, but I will let the Universe show me what it is and where I am meant to take it.

And what about you, Awakened Mama?
Are you feeling a little Spring Awakening inside of your spirit, as well?
Is something rising up within you?
Do you feel the pregnancy of spiritual creativity and are you ready to birth something beautiful?
Is the warm weather invigorating you as it is doing for me?
Do you have plans and ideas for Ostara that you wish to share with your family, too?

Please let me know in the comments —

This is where I part. I have an Instagram post idea inside my heart but I wonder if I’ll get around to it. I’ve done a lot of reading this morning but I’d love to finish off the Miracle Mornings book today. And that excitement about organizing my creative journaling supplies is getting louder and louder.

Wishing you the most wonderful Wednesday.
